In the deluge of algorithms, safeguarding the growth of the soul.

In the deluge of algorithms, safeguarding the growth of the soul.

Standing at yet another crossroads in human history, the wave of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping the world at an unprecedented pace. As a group of practitioners deeply rooted in the field of education for over three decades—including university professors, primary and secondary school trustees, founders of international schools, and educational technology experts at the forefront of technology—we are asked the same question by anxious parents more frequently than ever:

"In a future where AI seems all-powerful, what should my child learn? Which path should they take? What value remains in education?"

Faced with this contemporary anxiety, Toivo's answer is neither blindly optimistic nor pessimistically fearful. Combining our past thirty years of educational practice with future-oriented data insights, we want to share a core perspective with all parents: The arrival of the AI era makes "slow education" more important than ever before. In an age where the cost of producing standard answers is approaching zero, the essence of education is no longer about filling up with knowledge but about awakening that unique questioner within.

I. When "Knowledge" Devalues, "Wisdom" Begins to Emerge

In the past industrialized education model, we were accustomed to cultivating students into "containers of knowledge." Whoever remembers more, calculates faster, and accurately memorizes standard answers was the winner. However, the emergence of generative AI like ChatGPT has instantly rendered this competition meaningless. When massive knowledge retrieval and basic logical operations can be completed in seconds, humans are destined to lose if they continue to compete with machines in "memory" and "computing power."

The Toivo team believes that the core competencies of the future will undergo a fundamental shift: from the ability to "answer questions" to the ability to "ask questions"; from the ability to "execute instructions" to the ability to "define value."

This is precisely why we abandon traditional "cramming" when conducting college planning and background enhancement. We do not want to produce standardized industrial products because industrial products are most easily replaced by AI. Instead, we emphasize "holistic guidance" and the cultivation of critical thinking. In the AI era, a "person" who knows how to command AI, possesses unique aesthetics and judgment, and has strong empathy is far more vital than a "top scorer" who only knows how to grind through practice problems.

II. Technology is the Soil, Humanities are the Sunlight: Reshaping the E-G-P Growth Model

As an organization with "educational technology" (EdTech) DNA, we never reject technology. On the contrary, Toivo's core team includes leading educational technology experts, and we deeply understand the power of data. But we are even clearer that data should be used to discover potential, not to define destiny.

In the AI era, the key to choosing a path lies in "precise matching" and "differentiated competition." This is also the underlying logic of Toivo's unique E-G-P (Evaluation - Guidance - Pathing) growth model:

  1. Use AI to Subtract (Evaluation): We use leading international assessment systems and data technology to analyze a child's academic strengths and personality traits like a botanist analyzes soil. This step is to filter out those "unsuitable" tracks and prevent children from wasting their enthusiasm in ineffective competition.

  2. Use Humanities to Add (Guidance): This is a link that AI cannot replace. Mentorship, inspired by Finland, is our magic weapon for dealing with the AI impact. Machines can correct the grammar of an essay, but they cannot understand the teenage thoughts behind the words; machines can generate research reports, but they cannot inspire a child's intrinsic desire to solve complex problems. Our consultants are not supervisors but gardeners, and we cultivate children's teamwork and leadership through PBL project-based learning—these are the warmest connections between people and the coldest blind spots of machines.

  3. Use Planning to Multiply (Pathing): Future college planning cannot only look at rankings. We advocate "long-term planning," starting in middle school. When choosing majors and schools, we value fields that can cultivate "transferable skills." Whether aiming for the Ivy League or the "Big Three" in Hong Kong, the goal is not to turn children into cogs in a machine but to become leaders with a global perspective and cross-cultural adaptability.

III. Resisting the Temptation of "Fast," Embracing the Slow Art of "Growth"

The hallmark of the AI era is speed. Technology iterates swiftly, information flows rapidly, and societal transformations occur quickly. This speed often leads parents to panic, wanting to instill all skills in their children overnight, a classic case of "forcing growth."

However, as a group of education experts who have witnessed countless children's developmental journeys, the Toivo team wants to remind everyone: a child's cognitive development, the establishment of psychological resilience, and the formation of values follow their natural physiological rhythms that cannot be accelerated by algorithms.

As our opening statement says, "Education is a slow art of growth." In an era of constant change, "psychological resilience" will become a child's most valuable asset. When future careers may undergo reshuffling every 5-10 years, will children possess the courage to face failure? Will they have the ability to adapt to new environments?

This is why Toivo has intentionally included a "Psychological Resilience and Adaptability Workshop" in our service system. We aim not only to help children secure an acceptance letter but also to assist them in building a robust inner world, enabling them to firmly root and grow upward even in the face of future uncertainties.

IV. Toivo's Commitment: To Be a Lifter of Hope

Reflecting on the meaning of the name Toivo — "Hope" from Finland and "Lifting" from the East — we, the founders, have weathered 30 years of trials and tribulations, from university platforms to basic education sites, witnessing numerous shifts in educational philosophies. Yet, we always believe that the louder technology becomes, the quieter education should be; the more anxious the world, the more calmly growth should proceed.

In the AI era, choosing a path is not about gambling on which industry will flourish but about returning to the individual. Choosing paths that spark children's curiosity, rather than drowning interests in test prep; environments that cultivate deep interpersonal connections, rather than solitary human-machine interactions; educational environments that value uniqueness, rather than churning out standardized products.

Toivo Education Technology Group aspires to be a partner that understands education and, more importantly, understands growth. We will utilize cutting-edge data technology to unearth the potential of seeds, nurture minds with profound humanistic qualities, and ultimately support your children in growing into their best selves on the world stage of the future.

This is our response to the future.
